Cherry Turnovers- Easy Puff Pastry Recipe Turnovers are crispy golden, buttery pastries with a sweet and tart filling. Cherry turnovers are homemade fruity treats and taste like the ones you get at bakeries or coffee shops. Store brought puff pastry sheets to come in handy, and you can make it in no time. Victoria Sandwich or the Victoria sponge is a very traditional British afternoon tea cake .There is a nothing fashionable about recipe,it is a simple sandwich cake.But if you can make this basic sponge cake than you can make hundreds of adaptions and it is perfect for parties or picnics.These sandwiches are popular English teatime treats.Spongecake's are sliced and sandwiched with jam and topped with another layer of butter cream,vanilla cream or whipped cream and sprinkled with sugar .This tea time sandwich is named after Queen Victoria and reminds us of the era of tea parties and the practice of inviting friends to come over for tea in the afternoon. Tea Sandwich

Tea Sandwich Tea sandwich are easy to prepare afternoon tea time snack. It is perfect finger food for get together enjoyed by both kids and grown ups. The filling used here is grilled salmon fish and mayo. Ingredients Sandwich bread- 4 slices Grilled salmon shredded- 1/2 cup Smoked bell pepper chopped- 3 tbs Mayonnaise- 3 tbs lemon zest- 1/3 tsp Chopped parsley- 1 tsp salt and pepper to taste Prepare bread slices by neatly cutting off the edges. Use a fork to shred grilled salmon  and add the rest of the ingredients and combine well. Spread this evenly on  bread slices and press two slices together. Slice lengthwise or into wedges. Victorian Pound Cake

Victorian Pound Cake Baking partners challenge for this month is Pound Cake. This cake is known as quatre quarts or four quarters in France meaning four equal portions. The traditional  recipes calls for a pound of flour, sugar, butter and eggs and hence the name pound cake. The most important step in making this cake is the creaming and softening of butter and sugar which results in light even textured crumb. Pound cake are rich butter cake and you can add any flavor of your choice. Victorian pound cake uses rose water as flavoring. Baked Chicken Pinwheels Baked pinwheel with chicken filling can be served as a savory appetizer or tea time snack. Meyer Lemon Bars Baking partners challenge for this month is bar cookies. I always wanted to try them and when Swathi asked me to suggest two recipes  for this months challenge,I readily agreed. Thanks Swathi for this opportunity. Enjoyed this challenge! Lemon bar is a very popular bar cookie and lemons are available all year round. This makes a perfect summery treat. Here I used the Meyer lemons, which are sweeter  and not as tart as the regular lemons.I always loved sweet and tart lemon curd.This recipe has a basic lemon curd technique with the addition of condensed milk and flour. Kofieebroodje (Dutch Coffee Buns) Baking partners challenge for this month is a sticky and sweet raisin pasty bun. Thanks to Swathi   and Kaveri for suggesting this beautiful recipe.Kaveri send two Dutch recipes to try- Kofieebroodje/coffee bun and Apple tart. Both are beautiful recipes, but I decided to try the Dutch coffee buns. Bread or buns with toppings are common for Dutch breakfast.But coffee time which usually around 11 am and 7 pm is special time to indulge in rich pastries along with hot coffee.These type of pasty bun have rich filling of cream,custard or fruits and are integral part of Southern Dutch cuisine. Strawberry Upside Down Cake Strawberry upside down cake is fruity,rich and delicious dessert. I already posted a pineapple upside down cake and pear upside down cake which is more traditional. I love upside down cakes because they are simple and easy to make, yet tastes and looks exotic. Unlike pineapple upside down cake the strawberries does not retain much of its shape and become soft. But it makes the cake soft and tender and the cake absorbs the flavorful caramelized  strawberry syrup. This here is sweet and flavorful with coconut and butterscotch chips.Baking scones is easy to make,there is not much kneading needed . Orange Raisin Scones Scones are perfect tea time snack or just with a cup of coffee for  brunch.I made these scones with citrus flavored and raisins. It is only recently that I started baking scones and never knew it was so easy to make,there is not much kneading needed and can be made in a jiffy. It is buttery and tender in the inside and crispy in the outside.You can add cranberries or chocolate chips instead of raisins.
