Parippu vada is a delightful savory snack, fried to crispy golden perfection. It is an old-fashioned tea-time snack. It is a snack I grew up eating and it always has a homey feel to it. It is a simple evening snack made by grinding soaked lentils with spices. It is made with thuvar dal or channa dal, and when deep-fried, it has an irresistible flavor. In addition pearl onions, ginger and curry leaves imparts a wonderful aroma that is irresistible.Crunchy and mildly spicy, it is a delicious accompaniment with hot piping tea. Deep-fried lentil fitters are addictive snacks.
Parippu vada, uzhunnu vada, and Ulli vada are like the holy trinity in every tea stall and wayside eateries of Kerala. The best part of this recipe is that it is a vegan gluten-free snack. Now coming to this recipe, these vadas can be eaten anytime and at all times and tastes best when freshly made. It has a taste all to its own and is quite addictive. Give this recipe a try, you will surely love it.
