Fish Roe/Meen Mutta Omelet

Fish Roe/Meen Mutta Omelet Fish Roe omelet is quick and easy to make. It can be served along with rice like normal omelets.It was also be used as a sandwich.This is my mom's recipe. She usually makes fish roe fries for small fish and omelets or meen mutta thoran when we get more quantity of fish roe.Roe is the egg mass of the fish. We can make  omelet by cutting off the thin membrane and scooping out the egg mass. Try this you will surely love it. Ingredients Fish roe- 1 cup Egg- 1 Finely chopped pearl onion- 3 tsp Finely chopped ginger and garlic- 1 tsp Chopped green chilly-2 Chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves - 1 tsp Turmeric powder- a pinch Grated coconut- 2 tsp Fennel powder- a pinch Salt and pepper to taste oil for frying Carefully cut off the thin membrane and scooping out the egg mass or slightly break open with your fingers. Meen Mutta Varuthathu/Fish Roe Fry Today's post is another fish roe recipe. I have already posted a recipe of meen mutta thoran or fish raw sauteed with shredded coconut. This one is a fried version and is best with sardine fish roe as you can make small bite sized fitters.  But you can use any type of fish roe. For this fry the fish roe is marinated in a spicy batter and then shallow fried.This can be served as a appetizer or as a side dish with rice. Ingredients Any fish roe- 1 cup Ginger garlic paste- 1 1/2 tsp Chilly powder- 3/4 tsp Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder- 1/3 tsp Curry leaves- 1 spring Egg- 1 Corn starch- 1 tbs Mix turmeric powder,salt and pepper powder with the fish roe and marinate for five minutes. Meen Mutta Thoran Today's recipe is fish roe and coconut stir fry. I am quiet sure there are lots of people in Kerala who love this fish delicacy .Roe is the egg mass of the fish . This is an exotic fish recipe and back home meen mutta/roe is usually marinated and fried in coconut oil or made like stir fry with coconut. My mom also makes it like omelet by cutting off the thin membrane and scooping out the egg mass. You can use roe from fish like pom fret,king fish or sardine.
